Journalism is merely

history's first draft

Geoffrey C. Ward

Hi, I'm Jyoti, bona fide journalist, editor and PR consultant.

I started my career as a reporter on a local newspaper in Watford, in 2014, before going on to work at national newspapers and a trade association. This included Daily Express online, IPSE and recently, The Sun. I was the editor and founder of Modern Work, a trade magazine aimed at freelancers and the self-employed, which was launched in January 2018. I also have experience in PR, from dealing with media enquiries to developing strategies and carrying out campaigns.

Check out my portfolio to see a selection my work.

So what am I doing now? I'm working  as freelancer across all these areas. I specialise in business news and comment. I'm often found speaking to small businesses about the challenges they face. I can work remotely and independently, but also enjoy working in a team.

Take a look here to find out how I could help you and your business. If you want to learn more about my experience, see my LinkedIn page.

LIZ BARCLAY, Broadcaster, writer, author, CEO BackinBusiness

Jyoti is determined and tenacious, a good team player who uses her initiative. She is keen to learn and willing to volunteer for tasks she hasn't done before. I'm very pleased to have her on the BackinBusiness team.

Graphic designer, MHC design

I worked with Jyoti for over two years and during that time, she oversaw the rebrand of the company's print magazine, Modern Work, and its digital counterpart. Jyoti's skills go far beyond just an 'editor'. Her planning and organisation is ruthlessly sharp, which made my life very easy as the designer. Her copywriting was clear, concise, fluid and funny when it needed to be. But I was most impressed by her role in the creation of the digital magazine. She almost single-handedly built it. She created the business plan to demonstrate the appetite and need for it within a membership organisation and future-proofed the whole thing, all whilst doing her BAU day job. She's been great fun to work with and no doubt she'll be a prize asst to any organisation she is in.

Jyoti is a professional and friendly editor to work with, providing clear direction and feedback on my articles for Modern Work magazine.

Writer, Geditorial
